O2 is a collaborative studio that integrates landscape architecture, ecology, urban design, and planning in a holistic practice to create highly-valued places. With offices in Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto, our work seeks to understand the broader social, ecological, and cultural systems that support the economic vitality of successful places.
 
We are looking for a passionate and experienced landscape architect or ecological restoration practitioner with experience and expertise related to ecological restoration to work with our energetic and collaborative team. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the biological and physical processes that drive ecosystem functions that are the foundation of ecological design principles. This candidate should also have interest and experience related to the assessment and restoration of wetlands, riparian areas, steep slopes and banks, grasslands and forests within the diverse ecologies of Alberta and Western Canada. Experience with trails, pathways, green infrastructure and climate adaptations is considered an asset. We are seeking candidates that have 2-5 years of experience with a strong interest in nature-based design and the implementation of projects across a range of natural and urban conditions. We want to work with people that are driven to succeed and enjoy a collaborative design process. Our ideal candidate will be based in Edmonton or Calgary.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Managing, leading, and participating in all aspects of project delivery including planning, assessments, design, construction administration and monitoring. Familiarity with municipal, provincial and federal regulatory approvals would be considered an asset.
  • Work with our multidisciplinary team of landscape architects, landscape ecologists, watershed planners, and GIS specialists.

Qualifications:

  • Experience managing/leading and participating in all aspects of project delivery including planning, assessments, design, permitting, construction administration and monitoring is a must.
  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree or diploma from an accredited institution within the field of Landscape Architecture or other professional degree, along with related professional experience.
  • Certification as a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner is considered a strong asset (or in-training).
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience.
  • Experience in AutoCAD production, assembly of construction documentation packages, material selection, specifications and cost estimating within a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), ArcGIS, Civil 3D, and Land F/X is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A valid driver’s license and vehicle is preferred for site/project meetings and inspections.
